America SCORES Atlanta is an affiliate of America SCORES, a successful national non-profit that provides a unique and innovative after school program based on soccer and poetry. For 10 weeks each fall and spring, America SCORES Atlanta provides a comprehensive after-school program that directly addresses the issues of childhood obesity and illiteracy. Three days a week SCORES students learn the importance of communication and teamwork through six-to-eight hours of physical activity on the soccer field. Every other day, after-school SCORES kids participate in literacy workshops in which they focus on poetry, vocabulary building, written and oral communication, and self-expression.
