First, thank-you for your interest and support!! MCBI is a non-profit scientific and conservation advocacy organization. From our offices in Bellevue WA, Glenn Ellen CA, and Washington DC, we work to protect and restore marine life on the West Coast, around the US and worldwide, by encouraging research and training in marine conservation biology, bringing scientists together to examine crucial marine conservation issues, doing policy research to frame the marine conservation agenda, lecturing, producing books and other publications to educate scientists, the public and decision makers on key issues, and building partnerships to solve problems affecting marine life and people. MCBI's staff believes that the biggest problem we face is ignorance. As Senegalese ecologist Baba Dioum said, "In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught." Our answer is to increase understanding of the living sea, why marine life is disappearing, and how we can save it.
