Cause Description:
The Northwest Youth Music Association (NYMA) supports programs in the performing arts for youth of ages 8 to 22 in the Pacific NW and throughout the country. NYMA believes that the ideal program is one that significantly challenges youth to excel to new personal heights. The teen years are critical years that shape one’s adulthood. Intensive competitive activities provide a vehicle for young people to realize the value of hard work, teamwork, and perseverance while on a path towards achieving their own inner excellence. There may be activities provided by schools and communities, most of which are likely athletic programs. However, programs in the performing arts are often scarce. This is particularly true after school, on weekends, and during the summer months. It is NYMA’s goal to fill the gaps in youth programs. To provide opportunities and experiences that would not otherwise be available—such experiences that may prove to be positive defining moments in a young person’s life.
