Berkeley Youth Alternatives is a community-based organization whose mission is to provide a secure and nurturing environment for all the youth and families of our community, promoting, to their fullest potential, the freedom to develop individual skills and visions of the world. Founded in 1969, BYA annually serves over 1500 children and families in the Bay Area with comprehensive, holistic services which include child care, afterschool care, academic assistance, counseling, youth employment, sports & recreation, summer day camp, teen center, and health education. Youth graduates of the various programs have gone onto major 4 year colleges and universities and/or are employed by local businesses in their communities.
