Cause Description:
The Northshore Concert Band is a 115-member adult community band that is widely regarded as one of the world's premier music ensembles of its type. Since 1956 the band has performed hundreds of concerts for audiences throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. Each year the Northshore Concert Band performs about a dozen concerts, reaching over 10,000 people in the Chicagoland area. The band also co-sponsors a music festival with Northwestern University that gives several thousand young musicians across the Chicago area the opportunity to perform solos and ensembles in a contest setting, with NCB members serving as judges and clinicians. The members of the Northshore Concert Band are unpaid, volunteering their time and talents to the organization.
