Since 1854, Forestdale’s (FD) services have been part of an evolving tradition of activism and innovation in child welfare. While traditional child-welfare programs today are typically designed to ensure children's safety, Forestdale Inc. is committed to going beyond the basics. We actively pursue cutting-edge, evidence-based approaches to address low-income families' changing needs. We serve children and families across Queens and Brooklyn with a mission “to ensure that children and families have the assets needed to thrive and live independently.” Our goal is to end the intergenerational transmission of poverty and trauma. Forestdale’s programs work with abused/neglected children, youth and their families, single mothers, non-custodial & custodial fathers, families at risk of child removal from the home, domestic violence victims, abusive partners, young adults, and more. Forestdale uses a holistic approach to address a family's specific and evolving needs and those of everyone in it. By offering an assortment of services, we can tackle the needs of each family member and help create or fortify stability in the home.
