Ten years ago Bono and Bobby Shriver founded (RED) the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and Gap was the founding apparel partner.  To mark the Anniversary, Gap is releasing a special collection.  Gap has contributed $10M and has encouraged customers to support the fight against these preventable and treatable diseases. 70 million people have been helped through (RED) efforts.

The iconic (Gap)RED logo design, featuring inspiring text such as SUPER POWE(RED), INC(RED)IBLE and FI(RED) UP, will be offered in tees, sweatshirts and tanks for men, women and kids and in onesies for baby ($24.95-$54.95). The program, titled “Buy a frame, Help a child to see”, helps provide teacher trainings, vision screenings, optometrist exams, prescription glasses, corrective treatments and surgeries.  These services are provided through a donation made with the sale of each bio eyes frame.

Westlake Ace Hardware knows that summer isn’t all fun for the elderly, those without air conditioning or with medical conditions. The are joining together with The Salvation Army to raise money for fans.  The group of stores will kick off the fan drive with a donation of 475 fans to The Salvation Army. In 2015, more than $56,000 was donated by Westlake customers, equating to more than 3,600 fans, donated at cost, to The Salvation Army.

From June 23 to July 10, each of Westlake’s 92 store locations will participate in the fan drive by asking customers to donate to The Salvation Army at the register.

“Unfortunately, there is always a great need for fans and because many of Westlake locations are centrally located, residents in those communities often suffer from severe summer heat,” said Jeff Curnow, Community Relations Manager, The Salvation Army USA Central Territory. “Because of this partnership, we will be able to provide relief to many needy families.”

Lane Bryant’s Give.Share.Love campaign has helped to empower, encourage and support women and children through the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation. The brand, a women’s specialty size apparel brand, has made a commitment to the hospital and foundation.  Not only did they share videos on social media that featured Nationwide Children’s patients, they helped each child surprise the mom with a special gift. Lane Bryant also partnered with Nationwide Children’s to present an exclusive fashion show, styled by designer Christian Siriano, held at the hospital in May.  The fashion show starred Nationwide Children’s staff dressed in the Christian Siriano for Lane Bryant collection, as well as patients and some of their siblings.

target employees volunteer to help flood victims

Target has stepped up to the plate to support families in Houston, TX and surrounding communities with donations of time, money and gift cards.  The Target donation of $200,000 includes gift cards to the Salvation Army and local organizations to be distributed to impacted families and to be used for essential supplies. It also includes $85,000 to the American Red Cross for food, shelter and rapid clean-up response. These donations are on top of a $125,000 donation of funds and gift cards to support families impacted by floods in April, bringing the total of financial commitment to over $325,000.

In addition, Target employees have given their time to prepare meals and pack comfort kits of supplies for impacted neighborhoods. These teams of employees are working closely with the local community to organize future volunteer projects.

“When disaster strikes one of our communities, the Target team’s commitment to help response and recovery efforts is a very personal one, because the impacted neighborhoods are home to our guests and team members,” says Laysha Ward, chief corporate social responsibility officer, Target. “We’re so proud of our team members’ efforts, not only as volunteers, but also in making sure our stores closest to the disaster areas are ready with needed supplies.
