Kittlyland Cat & Kitten Rescue

Kittyland Cat and Kitten Rescue came into being when the shelter that had operated on the property for 30 years had to move, due to zoning changes. The dogs moved out to another shelter but the cats had no where to go.

“It was time to start our own Sanctuary,” Ann Woods, Executive Director of Kittyland told us. “We were deeded the land and are in the process of refurbishing some very old buildings to make a comfortable home for Cats and Kittens in danger. We are the only Cat and Kitten rescue in our valley that has a facility to accommodate just Cats and Kittens. We offer Sanctuary to older felines and to cats who need medical help, we are a no kill shelter. We find homes for healthy cats and kittens,we rely totally on donations which is why iGive is so important to us and made so easy for supporters to participate.”

Thanks to all who support this worthy cause, they’ve earned over $450 through their iGive partnership.

For the month of love, we are celebrating Keri I., whose love for soccer has her supporting Zavala 00 CDA Slammers FC in Orange County, California. In just one month, she’s raised over $125 for this 16 & under girls soccer team.

Since joining iGive, just over 6 months ago, this group has earned nearly $700 from their iGive supporters.  We just LOVE to hear that!

For her efforts, we’ve teamed up with Eve’s Addiction to provide Keri with a $100 gift card.  Congratulations – keep up the good work!

Make-A-Wish Germany fulfills the long-desired wishes of children and young adults between the ages of three and 18 years, who suffer from life-threatening illnesses. With this, they and their families experience happy and unforgettable moments, which give them hope, strength and joy of life to carry them as they fight against their illness. For iGive merchant partner, Condor Airlines, it is a particular honor to be able to make a small contribution.

In 2016, to celebrate its 60th anniversary, Germany’s most popular leisure airline flew at least one child to a dream destination for a short period of time out of their everyday life, which is too oft determined by illness.

A few trips included:

The 11-year-old Tomàs, who is suffering from cancer, and was happy to visit a sloth farm in Costa Rica. In June, 5-year-old Alicia, who is suffering from cystic fibrosis, finally visited her grandmother in the Dominican Republic.  The next dream that Condor fulfilled in cooperation with Make-A-Wish in August, belonged to Yasin from Munich. The 14-year-old, who is ill with leukemia, simply wanted to spend a carefree holiday with his family in Majorca. “With all my heart I wish for a hotel with a swimming pool”, said Yasin, full of anticipation for the journey.

To start the year off, we celebrate Kimberly L. who’s raised over $1,040 since joining iGive in 2007.  Kimberly is currently raising money for RefugeeOne, a Chicago-based resource for refugees fleeing war, terror, and persecution so they may build new lives of safety, dignity, and self-reliance.

We reached out to Kimberly and she shared these thoughts with us:

“Over the years I’ve supported several theatre companies in Chicago with my iGive shopping. I love seeing shows and working on shows and knowing that every little bit helps bring the magic of theatre to life.  Recently, however, some friends and I have begun taking up collections of household goods to donate to RefugeeOne and the last time we collected items, I decided to add the cause to iGive.  Now when I buy a teapot or dish towels to donate to RefugeeOne, the money I spent on those items also generates a donation via iGive! Win-win!!”

Thanks Kimberly, for being part of 20 years of giving with iGive.com.

VSP global logo

Vision Service Plan (VSP), the California Optometric Association, Adventist Health, the Kings County Action Organization (KCAO) and the Tulare County Office of Education  have teamed up to bring the mobile eye care clinic Mobile Eyes to Central Valley California cities like Lindsay, Hanford and McFarland. California State Senator Andy Vidak has made  been a critical advocate in this effort. Vidak has made it his mission to help ensure those in the rural parts of California Senate District 14 have access to eye care.

The 2016 Mobile Eyes venture was the best to date in the Valley. In 2014, Mobile Eyes conducted 57 free eye exams and provided 80 vouchers to patients in Fresno and McFarland. In 2015, Mobile Eyes served nearly 80 patients in Hanford and Lindsay, and provided 200 vouchers.

At VSP Global®, our mission is simple: We help people see. In 2016, they brought eye care to those in need by co-hosting multi-day events in 10 cities across the U.S. For each event, VSP will provide no-cost eye exams and glasses for qualifying adults and children in need through our VSP Mobile Eyes® program. Beyond 2016, VSP continues to work with the cities to determine how to create sustainable access to eye care services even when the mobile eye clinics are gone. This will support VSP’s larger goal of providing access to eye care to 1 million individuals by 2020.

Pimental Laboratory Cedars Sinai Medical Center

iGive member Ting C. dropped us a note about a cause that just joined iGive in October, 2016.

“Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common chronic medical conditions. People with IBS have been shown to have specific changes in luminal bacterial contents, the most common of which is small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), a condition whereby coliform bacterial counts in the small bowel become excessive. PLCMC is in the forefront of important research to cure SIBO.

This is why iGive.”

Until recently, a patient diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) was likely to be prescribed antidepressant medication and sent to a psychologist. IBS was thought to be primarily stress–induced. At Cedars-Sinai, we understand that this disease is not “in your head” which is why we are focusing our efforts on identifying the causes.

Based in LA, the Pimentel Laboratory has earned over $150 by its supporters shopping through iGive.
