iGive.com celebrates our Cause’s Good Works

The executive director of Maryland Horse Rescue sent us their story:

Maryland Horse Rescue is a 100% volunteer, certified 501(c)3 organization that rescues unwanted equine. Although we mostly take in horses, we accept any equine including mules and donkeys. We specialize in the care of blind and senior horses and our volunteers are dedicated to giving the very best care to our residents. We strive to educate the community on the value of a horse’s life and do a lot of work with the community and special needs groups.

We do our best to rehabilitate and re-home our horses, but sadly people are always looking for that “perfect” horse, so we promise to let our residents live out their lives in a safe, loving environment. We are a NO KILL shelter and only euthanize when it is absolutely necessary with the close advice of our veterinarian.

Mission:

Our founder’s first horse came from a badly abusive situation, but despite his horrible past, she taught him to become rideable. As years passed, she grew more and more disheartened as she watched people buy and sell horses like used appliances; it just didn’t seem right. The search for the elusive “perfect” horse meant many horses were being thrown away for minor defects that could be fixed. She found this tragic and it just seemed to her that someone needed to act as a safety “Net” for those horses, so “HorseNet” was born. In 2016 HorseNet Horse Rescue was rebranded as Maryland Horse Rescue. Our mission is still the same,  to facilitate the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of abused and abandoned horses in Maryland.

We firmly believe that every horse can perform a job of some kind, no matter what their limitation, and that they all deserve a second chance. This is the basis on which Maryland Horse Rescue will continue.

Since joining iGive.com, members supporting Maryland Horse Rescue have earned over $1600 for this #GoodCause!

iGive.com celebrates our Cause’s Good Works

The James Connection is a charitable 5 (c) (3) organization that has built an orphanage in Manipur India. Angels’ Place welcomed 60 destitute children on Feb 7, 2005. Today there are 161 youth being sheltered, nourished, instructed in God’s principles & educated in a private school.

James Connection

The original children are moving into their adult lives & some are pursuing higher education. In a recent letter, one child requested a photo of his sponsor family. He wanted the photo so that he could say to others that “these people are the builders of my future”.

“You can read stories about the children & learn how your iGive donations are changing lives. Sponsorships are $35.00/month, but meet only part of the financial need. With your iGive donations, you too can be a Builder of a child’s future!” – iGive supporter Diane F.

To date, over $400 has been raised through iGive.com by Diane & her fellow supporters.

Phavel D. raised $97.09 for Humane Society of Oregon with just one month of iGive shopping.

Since joining iGive.com in 2014, Phavel has raised over $1,100 for Humane Society of Oregon and other iGive causes.

The Oregon Humane Society rescues, heals and adopts more than 11,000 pets each year. “We never place a time limit on how long cats, dogs and other pets stay at our shelter. OHS relies on donations to support our adoption, education, and animal cruelty investigation programs.”Oregon Humane Socieyt

As a thank-you, Phavel will receive a prize from iGive partner store, TopMags!  A one-year subscription to both US Weekly and People magazine, valued at $175, will be sent out ASAP!TopMags

Make Every Day Earth Day Make Every Day Earth Day

iGive.com wants to help you help your Cause – whatever that cause may be.  On Earth Day this year, we are celebrating one of our merchant partners, Coyuchi, who is dedicated to providing you with quality products, while maintaining a high standard of excellence in environmental and social initiatives.

From an environmental standpoint, Coyuchi looks at the full life of a product—from the farm where the fiber is produced to what happens to the product when it reaches the end of its life. By partnering with fabric mills and workshops that share this reverence for environmental and social sustainability,  Coyuchi’s high quality standards can be maintained and impact on the planet, minimized. Through continued effort and ingenuity, they work to ensure environmental performance at production facilities.

“We believe that knowing where your linens come from and how they are made brings peace of mind.”

Coyuchi uses only natural fibers, sourcing the materials carefully and processing them minimally—so organic cotton truly feels like cotton, linen feels like linen, and wool feels like wool.  To guarantee that products align with these goals to be as ethical, sustainable and environmentally conscious as possible, they rely on guidelines and certifications from organizations around the world, including Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) certification and a growing collection of Fair Trade Certified goods.

To learn more about Coyuchi’s extensive environmental & social initiatives, visit their site here.

With iGive.com & Coyuchi, shop with confidence and shop with conscience.

Every purchase plants a tree.

Changing the world sounds big. None of us can change the world alone, but when we all work together, a lot of small choices can make a huge impact – every step makes a difference.  This is Bambeco’s philosophy and also iGive.com’s (by changing shopping for good!).

According to Oxford University research, planting and growing trees is the best way to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and reverse global warming.

Bambeco is proud to partner with American Forests, the oldest national nonprofit conservation organization in the country, for a joint commitment to restore and protect forests and minimize climate change.

American Forests Logo

With every Bambeco purchase, American Forests will plant a tree. That means every earth friendly purchase adds another tree to our landscape and another step towards counteracting climate change.

Since they launched the “Every Purchase Plants a Tree” initiative last November, they’ve planted over 20,000 trees—enough trees to supply oxygen for 40,000 people, save and clean 2.4 billion gallons of water and absorb 480 tons of carbon dioxide per year!

We are unwavering in our commitment to create and source products that are crafted in ways that cause less harm to the environment and reduce our carbon footprint.  For more information, check out Bambeco’s Sustainable Living Blog.

Together, we’ll grow forests. Together, we’ll change shopping for good.

Together we can do so much.

for the love of pets®

To celebrate their 30th anniversary, PetSmart came up with a little idea that can make a big difference for pets in need. Up to 7 million pets enter shelters each year, but not all pets in need live in shelters—some live with pet parents who rely on food banks.

So, when you buy any bag of dog or cat food—all brands, all sizes, no exclusions—they give a meal to a pet in need. These meals will be distributed by PetSmart Charities, not only to pet shelters and rescue groups, but also to food banks across the U.S. and Canada. (They expect to donate more than 60 million meals in 2017.)

Buy A Bag, Give A Meal

When you purchase a bag of dry dog or cat food at a PetSmart® store, PetSmart.com or PetSmart.ca between 3/1/17 – 12/31/17, PetSmart will donate a meal (5oz dog food, 1.5oz cat food) to PetSmart Charities® or PetSmart Charities™ of Canada to help feed a dog or cat in need.iGive.com 20 Year Anniversary

iGive.com has been in the business of making it easy to help good causes for 20 years.  We’re proud to be partnered with some amazing stores that have the same sense of responsibility to their customers and the world at large.

iGive.com celebrates our Cause’s Good Works

Kathy B. dropped us a note about her iGive Cause.  Paws Crossed Dog Rescue serves the Eastern Panhandle of WV and surrounding counties.  This non-profit dog rescue consists of a group of men and women who rescue abused, neglected, unwanted and abandoned animals. These people provide temporary foster homes to these animals until they are adopted. Paws Crossed provides these animals with food and medical needs including spay and neutering.

The foster homes play an essential part, for they do not have kennels for the dogs they rescue. Paws Crossed depends on the fosters, donations of food, supplies and money to be able to continue helping these dogs find their forever homes. All potential fosters and adopters are screened in order to assure the proper fitting home for each dog.

Colorado Horse Rescue

Colorado Horse Rescue

A love letter to horses from iGive member: Linda J.

I love horses and have always wanted to have a horse since I was a little girl. I met the volunteers from the Colorado Horse Rescue at the National Western Stock Show many years ago and donated to the cute miniature horse they had at the show. That was all it took; my husband and I attended their annual fund raising events and love to see the horses and hear their success stories.

When I learned about the iGive website that offered an easy way to donate and help the horses it was a perfect match for me. I love shopping online and buying from sites that support my favorite cause. I was sad to see a few of the stores I liked no longer offer the donations and hope to see more websites encourage shoppers to support their favorite cause.

Thank you iGive,

Linda J.

We, too, were inspired by the story of these majestic animals & the humans who so lovingly care for them.

Every member has a cause they love, and every cause has a story.  Share yours with us today as we spend this year celebrating 20 Years of Giving.
