Cause Description:
The Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps is a youth marching ensemble based in the shadows of the Professional Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Founded in 1972, the Bluecoats were originally a music outreach program of the Canton Police Boys Club. The name "Bluecoats" was chosen as a tribute to the police departments retired officers. The Bluecoats are recognized in the drum and bugle corps activity for their dedication to Big Band Jazz and commitment to providing drum corps fans an entertaining program every year. Membership in the Bluecoats is by audition and for youth ages 14-22, limited to 128. The corps is supported by local philanthropic foundations, fundraising, alumni, and membership tuition.
