The Los Angeles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (spcaLA), incorporated in 1877, is the oldest and most experienced humane organization in southern California. Our 62 staff members and 450 volunteers are dedicated to our mission to instill respect and appreciation for all living things; to promote humane and anti-violence education; to protect animals against violence (often a precursor to violence against people); to provide for the well-being of animals that are injured, ill, abused, or otherwise in need; and to promote a bond of mutual assistance between people and animals. spcaLA is an independent, non-profit organization not affiliated with any other SPCA, humane group or government entity, local or national.
