Cause Description:
Allies In Caring, Inc. is dedicated to leadership, advocacy, and excellence in promoting culturally-responsive, mental health services for diverse populations. We recognize that persisting racial and ethnic disparities in health care are major clinical, public health, and societal problems. Our approach to culturally competent responsiveness involves: a) provision of language accessible and culturally affirmative; counseling, education and community advocacy, b) focus on supporting the development of bilingual/ bicultural professionals and c) collaboration with key stakeholders and constituency groups. Allies In Caring, Inc. (AIC), was initially founded, as a for-profit agency by Ivette Guillermo-McGahee in 2012. She was driven by a strong desire to be more effective in helping children, youth and their families develop resiliency and become strong, creative and thriving despite adversity. Continuing to feel that her organization was not doing enough to broaden and extend the services it offered, Allies In Caring shifted its status to a non-profit organization in November 2013. With a sense of shared responsibility, we form a therapeutic alliance with our clients. We nurture self-awareness, mindfulness and kindness. Together we explore in a non-judgmental way both problems and potential.
