Cause Description:
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is the oldest charity in Chicago serving those in need of basics for human dignity such as food, shelter & clothing. Throughout Cook & Lake Counties 2500 volunteer/members operate out of 120 conference worksites, run 47 food pantries, 3 thrift stores and the Pope Francis Center for intensive case management. Clients in need may obtain FREE clothing, furniture and household items via our Voucher Program to help them get reestablished after suffering homelessness or other setbacks. Our teams of home visitors address the immediate need which may be things like rental assistance, groceries, or utility assistance and then address the root cause of poverty by referring clients to the Pope Francis Center.PFC helps include services such as applying for benefits, employment and financial literacy.
