Cause Description:
Our aim is to improve the quality of life for persons facing age related memory issues through the power of music. Using interactive live vocal music five days a week, we will engage the intellectual, physical, social, spiritual and emotional dimensions of wellbeing. Our twelve week pilot program aims to develop a template for the Songs by Heart program. It will demonstrate the effectiveness of using songs and music to connect persons with memory loss with their past and present and with those around them. It will provide the program staff with specialized training in memory care programming and group dynamics, and will create assessment tools to measure engagement. The long range plan is to offer the program in as many retirement communities around the United States as possible.
