Cause Description:
The Music Resource Center – Cincinnati is a multifaceted teen center that uses recording and performing arts, as well as life skills mentoring, to create a sense of empowerment and accomplishment in the urban community. The mission of the Music Resource Center–Cincinnati is to educate and inspire young people and through music equip them with life skills for the future. This mission, as well as our philosophy, will be the same as the original Music Resource Center, which is located in Charlottesville, VA and has been open since 1995. We will accomplish our mission by utilizing music education and performance experiences, both of which create opportunities to teach important life skills, while simultaneously providing a safe alternative to the streets. As an agency, we strive to teach adolescents to get along and work together with individuals from diverse backgrounds, to create dynamic products that reflect uniqueness and individuality, to pursue and master new skills, to conduct themselves according to a reasonable code of conduct, and to share their accomplishments in order to enrich the community as a whole. Our knowledgable staff and volunteers, all of which have passed background checks, work closely with our members to help achieve our agency goals, as well as their personal goals.
