Cause Description:
To offer care and a peaceful living environment for all animals in need of a safe and loving home. All Our Animals are in loving and caring Foster Homes until the right Forever Home comes his or her way. I Wanna Go Home Rescue's dogs and cats are housed in foster homes where they are provided with an enormous amount of love and any medical attention that may be required to insure that they are in good health before adoption. They are all spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on shots before being placed in their new homes. When time permits, our dogs are also house-trained and taught basic obedience. I Wanna Go Home Rescue's dogs and cats are evaluated for temperament and personality. This helps us to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners. We also work closely with other rescue groups and animal shelters and may be able to assist you in finding your next furry friend. RESCUE Work in conjunction with area animal control and welfare agencies to rescue dogs in need Take in owner surrendered dogs as needed to prevent euthanasia Rescue strays, abandoned and homeless animals Volunteers pick up and transport dogs Assist with transportation and rescue of animals in need during natural disaster crises REHABILITATION Address behavior and training issues prior to adoption Have all animals checked by veterinarian for wellness, including but not limited to spay or neuter, heart-worm test or to update vaccinations Help animals with special needs such as heart-worm positive, mange, diabetes, etc. Have animals placed with a volunteer foster family while waiting to be adopted Foster families will help work with any behavior or health issues Provide for funding on surgical procedures for animals in need ADOPTION Require completion of adoption application with references Base adoption approvals on the needs of each individual dog and family in order to increase successful permanent placement Volunteers to conduct adoptions at local pet stores EDUCATION Provide educational literature at adoption events as well as other pet related events on topics such as: Pet Over population/Puppy Mills Importance of Spaying/Neutering Pets Responsible Pet Care Heart-worm Disease and Prevention Animal Cruelty and Abuse Be available to assist adopters with behavioral and training issues Inform all adopters of adjustment issues for rescued animal and new family
