Cause Description:
The Bruce Roberts Toy Fund has been supporting families by making winters happier for children since 1949! We supply toys to children in every community in the five counties serviced by The Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram – York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, and Knox. The money received in donations goes to purchase toys. Although the amount we raise each year sounds like a lot of money, more than 7200 children annually benefit from the toys we supply. With the continued struggles that many families face, the number of children in need doesn’t diminish. We provide gifts for children from birth to age 18 that are age appropriate and safe. From Thanksgiving to Christmas, The Bruce Roberts Toy Fund solicits cash donations from the surrounding communities. These donations are used to purchase new, safe, and age appropriate toys for children. Although originally conceived as a Christmas toy fund, the mission of the fund was broadened several years ago to include all faiths. The spirit of giving and sharing remains intact.
