Cause Description:
The Shawnee Senior Center has an Adopt-A-Unit program that began with supporting a local Army National Guard Unit stationed in Afghanistan. As our seniors became more knowlegeable of the living and environmental condition the soldiers were experiencing a decision was made to make cool collars. They are a bandana-style necktie containing crystals that expand when wet and can assist in maintaining a comfortable body temperature. several of the Shawnee Senior Center women volunteer their time and talent, the senior center staff solicits donations to support the cause, and volunteers pack and mail all manner of donations: food, snacks, school supplies, magazines, and cool collars.
