Cause Description:
The mission of the Mentoring Partnership of Long Island is to bring caring adults together with children in need through safe, effective mentoring programs. Research has shown that children who have a caring adult in their lives have a better chance of staying in school, out of gangs and away from drugs. We wish that every child could have a mentor. For those who want to start a program, become a mentor or find a mentor, we act as mentoring consultants. We provide training, technical support, advocacy and resources to program providers and volunteer mentors. We offer our services free of charge so that we can make sure as many programs as possible operate safely and effectively. We make mentoring work.
