Cause Description:
The Cookbook Project combines youth education with food justice and the Slow Food Movement’s goals of preserving local food cultures. The organization facilitates recipe book workshops in conjunction with youth-oriented non-profit organizations worldwide. These workshops focus on educating youth experientially about local food traditions, food markets, traditional recipes, nutrition and sustainable consumption through the vehicle of the recipe book project. Youth will be engaged in discussions, market visits, family food interviews and cooking exercises that will culminate in the group creation of a full-course family-style meal. Recipes produced from these workshops will be integrated into an annual cookbook that contains global recipes tied to local food culture, sustainable consumption, and health and wellness.
