Cause Description:
Our mission is to help defray out-of-pocket costs for medical treatment not paid for by insurance for a beautiful little toddler girl with severe pediatric brain injury. Sarah Bear was born prematurely on April 16, 2007 and barely survived late onset Group B Strep meningitis. Sarah needs aggressive intervention for cerebral palsy, a seizure disorder, sensory integration disorder, developmental delays, and vision loss. Sample costs include Botox injections at $800 each; hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at $5,000 per round; Durable Medical Equipment (e.g., pediatric wheelchair, gait trainer, bath lift, etc.) at $1,500 - $5,500 each; Therasuit intensive physical therapy at $6,000 for a 3-week program; and $25,000 for a round of stem cell therapy (currently available only in Europe, China, and elsewhere outside the US).
