Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA) is a nationally recognized student achievement program that uses the arts to teach science, math, language and other tested areas. The OMA Program has been proven to raise test scores in participating schools. The Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA) Foundation is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to raise funds to assist the OMA Program thrive and grow. OMA proves that public eduation works; our children achieve and are prepared for futures in and beyond school. OMA is an important teacher-success tool; OMA provides a culture of collaboration and a team of support and expertise. OMA engages every child in the classroom to become an empowered learner. The OMA curriculum is built on neurological development research and multi-intelligence research to teach specific skills targeted to each grade from kindergarten through eighth grade. In OMA schools, discipline problems are down, attendance is up, and parental involvement increased. Failing schools become excelling schools. Music resounds through the hallways, visual art is displayed throughout the building, and children's demeanor with teachers and each other is respectful.
