Our Mission is to meet pediatric cancer head on with superior detection methods and diagnostic tools coupled with kid friendly treatments that bring hope to all those involved by . . . Translating biomedical discoveries into integrated, personalized treatment programs Developing cancer-specific predictive tests to guide cancer therapy for each child Delivering to the clinic new therapies that consider the unique molecular physiology of each child and his or her cancer. The Nicholas Conor Institute was founded to accelerate laboratory discoveries into integrated, individualized treatment programs for children with cancer. Pediatric patients with cancer need regimens that will reduce unnecessary exposure to toxic drugs and minimize long-term side effects, while resulting in better responses and longer survival. Institute staff will collaborate closely with oncologists to match diagnostic evaluations with customized therapies specific to each child. This personalized approach differs markedly from current treatments, in that it uses molecular guidance in addition to traditional staging-based diagnosis to effectively treat children with cancer. Through collaborations with biomedical research institutions, hospitals and the biotechnology industry, The Nicholas Conor Institute will bridge gaps between academia and applied clinical practice to benefit children with cancer.
