Cause Description:
AACCEPT (Autism Awareness & Creating Community Environmental Programs Together) is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c (3) organization dedicated to raising funds for education, recreational, and vocational programs for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders with particular attention to much needed services and programs for adolescents and adults. Presently, there are limited appropriate programs and services available. Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders are impaired in their sensory development, communication skills, and social interactions. The majority of these individuals will require services throughout their lifetime to enable them to function as productively and independently as possible in the community. While the extent to which these services are needed will differ from individual to individual, their specialized nature will not. Autism Spectrum Disorders have been estimated to occur in as many as 1 in 150 individuals. It is 4 times more prevalent in boys than girls and knows no racial, ethnic, or social boundaries. Currently, there is no cure.
