Cause Description:
The love for creating musical works of art is what invoked Amy J. Steiner, co-founder and director of the Niagara Frontier Concert Band, to search for others who shared the same passion. And so, on a cool fall night in 2003, Steiner, a band director at Waterfront Elementary School, led the charge in creating a concert band that includes various groups of people contributing both original style and flavor to one of America’s favorite pastimes. With a combination of woodwinds, brass, and percussion, the NFCB plays a mix of music from orchestral transcriptions to traditional and original works. Steiner’s emotional sentiment and each member’s wide variety of skill and diverse background don’t hurt either. Together the group combines to produce a sound that is unique and full of passion. But what’s a band without a show? To display their talent and hard work, the band has played at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda, Lippes Concert Hall at University at Buffalo, and numerous festivals. They have also participated in Armed Forces Day services at Eastern Hills Mall, Memorial Day Service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, and Christmas events at Boulevard Mall.
