Cause Description:
The Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation supports the families of children diagnosed with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome, a rare chromosome disorder that causes severe developmental delays. Fewer than 700 individuals worldwide have been diagnosed with the rare syndrome. One of the events supported by the Foundation is a biennial conference where families and genetics researchers gather to share the latest information and provide geneticists the opportunity to study children with the syndrome. Financial contributions offset the cost of this conference. Donations are also used to fund research opportunities and to build an endowment fund.
