Animal Aid is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue and welfare organization. It is our mission to enhance the welfare of companion animals through individualized care and lifelong commitment, rescue and adoption, resources and education, and community partnerships. We operate a free-roam shelter for cats, a foster program for dogs and cats, and The Animal Aid Cares Fund, a partnership with veterinarians across Portland to offer financial assistance for urgent medical or behavioral care. Formally established in 2021, It Takes a Pack is Animal Aid’s community supply sharing initiative. Throughout the year, it is not uncommon for our shelter to receive cat and dog food and supply donations from generous individuals and businesses that simply go beyond our need or ability to use in a timely manner. We’ve continued to see the need for assistance grow within our community, and this program is a direct response to that. Through it, we hope to contribute to a stronger mutual aid network within Portland, whereby access to essential animal care supplies is made available to a greater number of people and the animals they love.
