Cause Description:
The Foreman Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises funds for melanoma skin cancer research and awareness. Established in 1995, the Foundation was formed in memory of John Bruno, Jr., who lost his battle with the disease in 1992. The Foreman Foundation has donated monies toward the research effort at the Penn State College of Medicine at Hershey Medical Center. These funds have enabled the creation of The Foreman Foundation Melanoma Research Laboratory in Memory of John Bruno, Jr. in 2000. Melanoma is the most deadly skin cancer, taking one life every hour in the United States. Its incidence is rising at an alarming 4% each year. Because melanoma can often be prevented or successfully treated if detected early, raising awareness of this disease is vital.
