Cause Description:
Michelle was a person who always tried to help those around her regardless if they were friend or family. Throughout her illness, she willingly participated in clinical studies and research projects. These had no direct impact on her outcome, yet provided valuable information that may lead to the discovery of the cure or cause of brain tumors. It was her wish to establish a charitable fund that would help in this endeavor. In Michelle’s memory, The Bozzelli Brain Tumor Research Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation was established in December 2003. Since then the fund name has changed to allow others to utilize it for charitable giving purposes, as well as the scope of what the funds are utilized for. The fund is now called The Brain Tumor Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation. This fund has three main objectives: financing various organizations working towards finding viable treatments, sponsoring resources (support groups, reference material, etc.) for patients and their families battling this horrible illness, and bestowing financial aid to those unable to afford treatment options.
