Cause Description:
A combined unit of NYC Urban Park Rangers & Parks Enforcement officers, along with qualified volunteers. Their primary goal is to search for missing/lost persons and rescue injured persons from a variety of environments including, but not limited to: urban, suburban, wilderness, water, etc. They also provide event coverage for medical/first aid response, marine rescue response, and stand by coverage in most areas. Although, the unit is sponsored by the NYC Dept of Parks & Recreation, the unit does not have an operating budget from the agency. There is no charge for the unit's services. The unit has traveled outside of New York City to assist other agencies in searches.
