Metropolitan Maltese Rescue (MetroMalts) was founded in 1998 by a group of Maltese dog lovers in New York City. MetroMalts volunteers foster and place Maltese found as strays, surrendered by their owners, or rescued from shelters. We use every means at our disposal to keep Maltese out of shelters and in good forever-after homes. Every foster and permanent home is carefully screened, including a home visit. Information provided by potential adopters is used to make sure that our Maltese are placed with owners who are best suited to their individual personalities. We remain available after adoption to help owners quickly and effectively resolve any concerns or problems that might arise. We gladly accept donations of time, professional advice and care (such as veterinarians and trainers), and financial assistance. We welcome people who just love the breed and want to help. After all, that's how MetroMalts began.
