Sheltie Rescue Inc. is a charitable non-profit organization comprised of volunteers who give their time, abilities, and their homes to help place Shetland Sheepdogs where they will be well cared for and loved. Its main goal are the protection of Shelties today, prevention of further over-breeding and education of any Sheltie owner who may request it. Sheltie Rescue finds homes for Shelties that are abandoned, lost or mistreated and are in dire need of assistance and a new lease on life. We also help those who must give up their dogs by means of referral service, or by bringing them into one of our foster homes. We cover newspaper ads, and try to help those who have either lost of found a sheltie. We feel that the responsibility must rest with us who know and love the breed. What better reward could there be than knowing that there are great homes waiting for Shelties which might otherwise be put down, left to starve or to run loose in the streets to be crippled or killed in traffic.
