Cause Description:
The Library of Va., established in 1823, is to Va. what the Library of Congress and the National Archives combined are to the U.S. It serves as a general reference and major research facility to a constantly increasing constituency--with thousands visiting via the Internet from all over the world. The Library's holdings include state gov't. publications, court records, newspapers, maps, fiction and non-fiction volumes (by Virginians or about Virginia), and collections of personal letters, family Bibles, photographs, artwork, and other Virginiana. The private, non-profit Library of Va. FOUNDATION supports the collections, programs, and work of the Library--including the maintenance of on-line access to books, serials, documents, microforms, media and electronic resources. The FOUNDATION also supports the preservation and conservation of items in the Library's collections.
