Cause Description:
We provide a medically verified Brain Injury Identification Wallet Card for Wisconsin survivors. This card alerts police, first responders, and medical personnel that the individual has sustained a brain injury and lists the common characteristics that survivors often display but are frequently misinterpreted. We are participants in the Unmasking Brain Injury Project. This project gives a voice to survivors who create a mask that depicts how they feel about what has happened. The display is housed at our Waukesha office and is a traveling Education and Awareness opportunity. Our Social and Skills Programs unite fellow survivors and families. These events provide networking opportunities and are hosted onsite and at larger venues as needed. These events allow survivors to make new friends and strengthen family connections often strained after an injury. BIRCofWI Representatives conduct presentations to Civic Groups, Schools, and workplaces to help educate the general public
