Cause Description:
The West Houston Quilters’ Guild (WHQG) is a non-profit organization founded in 1993 with the purpose of developing and nurturing appreciation for the art of quilting and its history through education and community. WHQG promotes education and appreciation of the art and history of quilting through monthly educational programs, which include speakers and activities. The Guild’s charitable activities include the donation of quilts to nationwide organizations that present a need, natural and man-made disasters, Project Linus and other youth related foundations, women’s shelters, senior care facilities and other requests as they are submitted. Income for the organization is generated from annual dues, bi-annual quilt shows and donations. West Houston Quilters’ Guild is staffed with volunteers. There are no paid positions. WHQG is an inclusive organization.
