Cause Description:
Dogs Rural is not a 5013C Rescue or Shelter. We do not get donations. Dogs Rural is HOME ( April 29th 2013 ) to my Family which consists of my Husband, our 3 Children ages 8 Daughter - 6 Daughter - 4 Son. We have 2 Boston Terriers, 1 Guinea Pig and a few Bunny Rabbits, Barn Cats and 2 Cows ! I'm 33 years old. Married 8 years to the Father of all my Children and we're a Family of Animal Lovers ! We now have ( 3 acres ) plenty of room to care for not only our Family Animals but to also offer our help to those that need us ! Our 3 acres includes a large fenced in area and a nice big Barn which is HOME to our 2 Cows and a few Barn Cats. We ADOPTED our 1st 3 Cats through Darling Pet Rescue ( Home Check ) and our 2nd 3 Cats from Dane County Friends of Ferals ( Home Check ) so I would personally recommend both organizations ! The other fenced in side is for the Dogs and they love it ! Dogs Rural is located 10 miles out of Sauk City in the Town of Troy on State Road 60 heading towards Spring Green, WI. I will be having a GARAGE SALE this Summer and I would like to hold an OPEN HOUSE too so People that don't know can come and meet me We have Vet Reference for our personal "Pets" through the Sauk Prairie Small Animal Hospital in Prairie du sac, WI http://spsmallanimalhospital.com/ AND http://animalwellnessonwheels.com/ My Family and I started out Fostering in May 2013 after we got settled in ! Pluto was given to Dogs Rural on November 7th 2013 ! We cared for Pluto as our own until Pluto was Re Homed on Dec. 1st 2013 to someone I had thought was going to be good for him, Pluto returned to Dogs Rural on Feb. 9th 2014 due to personal reason. Pluto was re vetted by Dogs Rural and well cared for by us until we found Josie & Mickey Pluto is now a well loved little boy ! He went Home to a wonderful Family on Feb. 16th 2014 and is doing very well ! We've also had Home Checks done by Columbia County Humane Society ( never worked with them though ) / Fetch ( NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE ) / Jr's Pups ( have yet to work with the group but I look forward to doing so ) ! Other Volunteer Experience July 2012 - Jan. 2014 I was with the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland Council as a GS Troop Leader so I was background checked and passed ! Feb. 14th 2014 - March 2014 Lost Dogs of Wisconsin handling the Found Dog reports. REQUIREMENTS Dogs MUST be good with Children since we have 3 Children and we prefer them to get along with other Animals seeing as we have Rabbits, Cats, a Guinea Pig, Cows ! *DISCLAIMER* IF your Dog has never been around small Animals I'm willing to try a proper introduction. I say this because my Family and I where denied a Dog through Paw Prints Ranch back in 2013 because she was deemed a small Animal killer. Long story short, the couple she was sold too decided they no longer wanted her & we ended up with her ( they should have given her back to PPR but the conditions she came from where very poor so the couple did not want to put her through that again ) THANKFULLY ! That's a whole other story which I have posted to another album if you care to read it. Dogs Rural is AVAILABLE for Dog Boarding though your Dog MUST be Fixed, Up to Date on Shots / USING Flea & Tick Prevention and USING Heart Worm Prevention like our 2 Bostons ! NO AGGRESSIVE Dogs of any size. OR Dogs Rural would love to help you find the PERFECT Dog for you ! Even if it's not through Dogs Rural, I do SUPPORT other Animal Rescues & Shelters so I can help you in your search OR Dogs Rural is AVAILABLE to help in the Re Homing process of your Dog ! We will take in & find a new Home for your Dog keeping him/her as long as needed ! NO DOG WILL LEAVE OUR HOME UNTIL IT IS FIXED and Up to date on shots ! We will not pay you. We will Fully vet your Dog then charge a re homing fee but we are not doing this to make money so we only ask to be paid back exactly what we end up spending ! NO AGGRESSIVE Dogs of any size or Major Medical issues as we use Personal funds ONLY so we would be un able to properly care for the Dog, I'm looking to HELP not HURT Again we use our Personal money to FULLY Vet the Dogs so we will only take in 1 Dog at a time ! *DISCLAIMER* We did receive a $5 donation in the name of Pluto from Mickey & Josie, Pluto's new Adoptive Family 2/16/2014 Dogs Rural is maintained by myself, Michelle M Cone Colstad & funded by my hard working Husband ! Animals will receive daily contact from me, my Husband and our 3 Children all which are Animal Lovers & have previous Animal care giving experience ! Our personal money Fully Vets the Dog which INCLUDES the following IF needed... #1 a trip to a real Vet Clinic to have testing done and get the shots up to date, #2 Spay or Neuter if not already done, no Animal will leave our home unless it is FIXED ! #3 Flea/Tick and Heart Worm Prevention's. New Family will receive the following... #1 all previous owner / Dogs Rural Vet records . #2 all belongings that we received at the time of surrender & bought if needed through out the Dogs stay with Dogs Rural. #3 all receipts incurred while the Dog was with Dogs Rural. NO DOG will not leave our home until it is FULLY Vetted / up to date on shots. #4 Remaining doses of Flea/Tick and Heart Worm Prevention's. I URGE YOU TO CONTINUE TO USE THE PREVENTION'S SEEING AS YOU HAVE THEM ! IF YOU DECIDE TO NOT BUY MORE THAT IS UP TO YOU THOUGH I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU CONTINUE TO USE Flea/Tick and Heart Worm Prevention's ! There are 2 Female Michelle M Colstad's in Wisconsin. I do not have a criminal record, please do not get me mixed up with the one that does. I have nothing to hide ! NO foster homes used. We provide a Safe/Loving home until we find the best fit, if we cant find a good fit we will keep the Animal as long as we need to ! We don't ask a surrender fee ! Your Dog would appreciate you sending any of their current belongings to make it easier on them during the transition. Ideally your Dog comes with Vet Records, is Healthy, Fixed & Up To Date on all shots but we are willing & able to personally Vet. Again, We are doing this out of LOVE for Animals not to make profit.
