Bellaire, Texas

Cause Description:
On March 3, 2009 William L. Jordan IV (Will), at the glorious age of 16, passed away in his sleep as the result of a seizure. As a way to ensure his memory will continue to be celebrated in an enduring manner, his family Bill, Teresa and Cameron Jordan created the William L Jordan IV Memorial Endowment through the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo™. This endowment will benefit the youth of Texas through 4 year scholarship awards to qualified recipients. Will was very active with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, where he was excited to be a rookie last year on the Junior Rodeo Committee. Will participated in a number of pre-show activities with JRC including assisting at the Top Hand Horse Show, being one of the ten judges when the trail rides arrived at Memorial Park on Go Texan Day and working the Cutting Horse Show. Will's love of Rodeo was obvious to all who knew him as he reveled in the music, animals, carnival, food, history and mostly the mission of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo™. Will was an enthusiastic sophomore at his beloved Lutheran High North. He played on the football team, participated on the swim team, was a member of the track team, and sang in the school choir. Will energetically supported every function held for the benefit of the school. Lutheran North was equally devoted to Will, and have continued to honor his memory in everlasting ways. Will was an active student and athlete. He earned a brown belt in Kuk Sool Won after years of practice and discipline. Will began his long scouting career as a Cub Scout with Pack 80, became a Boy Scout with Troop 80 and earned his Life rank with Troop 11. He was on track to earn his Eagle Scout rank after many years of dedication to scouting. Will also enjoyed many summers with his family in Muskoka, Ontario, enjoying the love and laughter of his Canadian family, amongst the beauty of the Canadian lake country. Will had a love of people and of life that was clearly unmatched and was a gift to all those people whose lives he touched. The Jordan family philosophy has always been “live, love, laugh” and Will exemplified that philosophy in everything he did every day of his life. Through this educational endowment Will's memory will continue to be a gift to many people. Thank you for your generous support of the William L. Jordan IV Memorial Endowment and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo™.
