Cause Description:
The purpose of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Texas is to provide dependable adult friendship and guidance to youth. Volunteers share one-to-one time with a child for a few hours, twice a month. Children are "matched" between the ages of 6 to 15.Researchers found that children who had Big Brothers or Sisters are 1/2 less likely to skip school, 1/3 less likely to fight to solve problems, 1/4 less likely to start drinking and are more cinfident about their schoolwork.
