Spring Reins of Life serves veteran and youth trauma survivors in New Jersey. They do this with the assistance and guidance of horses. Without riding, and without “talking about it” (PTSD, combat, living on the streets, losing a parent, etc.) clients are able to find home in the heart and purpose. As a volunteer run organization, the majority of all funds raised is allocated to services not salaries.

According to iGive.com member & Spring Reins of Life supporter, “To date we have helped over 500 combat veterans, over 700 at risk teens and over 50 young children suffering loss.”

Check out their story below.

Angela K. raised over $140 in one month by using iGive.com to support Center for Great Apes.

Angela joined iGive.com in 2007 and has earned nearly $300 in Donations for her chosen cause, Center for Great Apes.  Almost half of that was in one month – that’s some powerful shopping!

Center for Great Apes is the only accredited orangutan sanctuary in North America. Located in Florida, this 501(c)3 charity is dedicated to providing a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees who have been rescued or retired from the entertainment industry, from research, or from the exotic pet trade.

As a thank you for her support of this “Great” cause, iGive.com has partnered with Parachute Home to provide Angela with a $150 gift card.

Thanks for all you do!

iGive.com celebrates our Cause’s Good Works

The James Connection is a charitable 5 (c) (3) organization that has built an orphanage in Manipur India. Angels’ Place welcomed 60 destitute children on Feb 7, 2005. Today there are 161 youth being sheltered, nourished, instructed in God’s principles & educated in a private school.

James Connection

The original children are moving into their adult lives & some are pursuing higher education. In a recent letter, one child requested a photo of his sponsor family. He wanted the photo so that he could say to others that “these people are the builders of my future”.

“You can read stories about the children & learn how your iGive donations are changing lives. Sponsorships are $35.00/month, but meet only part of the financial need. With your iGive donations, you too can be a Builder of a child’s future!” – iGive supporter Diane F.

To date, over $400 has been raised through iGive.com by Diane & her fellow supporters.

To start the year off, we celebrate Kimberly L. who’s raised over $1,040 since joining iGive in 2007.  Kimberly is currently raising money for RefugeeOne, a Chicago-based resource for refugees fleeing war, terror, and persecution so they may build new lives of safety, dignity, and self-reliance.

We reached out to Kimberly and she shared these thoughts with us:

“Over the years I’ve supported several theatre companies in Chicago with my iGive shopping. I love seeing shows and working on shows and knowing that every little bit helps bring the magic of theatre to life.  Recently, however, some friends and I have begun taking up collections of household goods to donate to RefugeeOne and the last time we collected items, I decided to add the cause to iGive.  Now when I buy a teapot or dish towels to donate to RefugeeOne, the money I spent on those items also generates a donation via iGive! Win-win!!”

Thanks Kimberly, for being part of 20 years of giving with iGive.com.

BJs Blood Donor Drive

BJ’s Wholesale Club is helping Boston Children’s Hospital’s (BCH) increase its registered donor base of blood donors by 5,000 through the end of this year.  Since March, more than 2,500 Massachusetts residents have registered as a blood donor through Boston Children’s Hospital – Bloodmobile drives, including stops at BJ’s Wholesale Club locations.

“Registering as a blood donor is an easy way to make a difference in the lives of children and families,” said Bob Eddy, chief financial officer of BJ’s Wholesale Club. “We thank every new registered donor and look forward to reaching our goal by the end of 2016.”

Across the United States more than 41,000 blood donations are used every day – that’s 1.23 million donations per month.  Locally, patients at BCH are in need of 24,000 blood transfusions each year, but that is more than three times the number of blood donations the Boston Children’s Hospital – Bloodmobile receives over the same period.
To help, local BJ’s locations will continue to host the Boston Children’s Hospital – Bloodmobile throughout the year.

In April 2014, BJ’s Charitable Foundation continued its ongoing support of BCH by donating $250,000 to support the Bloodmobile, which includes the following features:

  • A high-tech blood center in a 40-foot custom coach with all of the equipment available at the hospital-based blood center.
  • Outfitted with five-beds.
  • Ability for technicians to collect different blood components, such as red cells and platelets, for many different patient needs.
