Huntington’s Disease Society of America

HDSA has been an active partner with iGive since 1999.  They are the premier nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington’s disease. From community services and education to advocacy and research, HDSA is the world’s leader in providing help for today and hope for tomorrow for people with Huntington’s disease and their families.

HDSA’s network of chapters, affiliates, HDSA Centers of Excellence, social workers and support groups provides a seamless connection for help, education and outreach to HD families and health care professionals across the United States.

Huntington’s disease (HD) is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure.

In 1993, researchers identified the gene that causes HD. Since then, research has moved quickly towards developing treatments and, ultimately, a cure. HDSA supports the goals of clinical and basic research at leading research facilities globally.

By partnering with iGive, HDSA has earned over $11,000 toward their goals of improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington’s disease.  You can see their recent progress here:

You can also register now to attend the 32nd Annual Convention, June 22-24, 2017 in Schaumburg, IL.

Thanks to all the supporters of HDSA – and thanks to our iGive store partners & members for being part of 20 years of giving.

Kittlyland Cat & Kitten Rescue

Kittyland Cat and Kitten Rescue came into being when the shelter that had operated on the property for 30 years had to move, due to zoning changes. The dogs moved out to another shelter but the cats had no where to go.

“It was time to start our own Sanctuary,” Ann Woods, Executive Director of Kittyland told us. “We were deeded the land and are in the process of refurbishing some very old buildings to make a comfortable home for Cats and Kittens in danger. We are the only Cat and Kitten rescue in our valley that has a facility to accommodate just Cats and Kittens. We offer Sanctuary to older felines and to cats who need medical help, we are a no kill shelter. We find homes for healthy cats and kittens,we rely totally on donations which is why iGive is so important to us and made so easy for supporters to participate.”

Thanks to all who support this worthy cause, they’ve earned over $450 through their iGive partnership.

German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County

German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County has been active with iGive for 10 years now, and what a story they have!  Over 600 iGive members support this worthy Cause, and they have earned over $7,000 in Donations.  Maria D., iGive member and Executive Director of the rescue, dropped us a note about their mission.

“German Shepherd Rescue of OC is dedicated to rescuing, rehoming, and rehabilitating German Shepherd dogs that have no where else to turn. We are operated by volunteers and we receive no government funding. Currently, we have more than 90 homeless shepherds depending on us for their care and comfort needs. Funds are desperately needed to pay for boarding costs, veterinary care, spaying and neutering, vaccines, microchips and basic supplies. In addition to funds, we always need donations of pet food, dog toys, quality treats, bleach and cleaning supplies. Dogs come to us from desperate situations, such as death of an owner, abandonment by loved ones, severe illness or injury that owners are not prepared to manage, as well as from public shelters throughout So California. Each year, we successfully rehome more than 400 German Shepherds in permanent, loving homes.”

If you live in the area, check out upcoming events to see how you can make a difference in the lives of these dogs, too!

Thanks Maria, for ALL you do on behalf of your Cause!
