Spring Reins of Life serves veteran and youth trauma survivors in New Jersey. They do this with the assistance and guidance of horses. Without riding, and without “talking about it” (PTSD, combat, living on the streets, losing a parent, etc.) clients are able to find home in the heart and purpose. As a volunteer run organization, the majority of all funds raised is allocated to services not salaries.

According to iGive.com member & Spring Reins of Life supporter, “To date we have helped over 500 combat veterans, over 700 at risk teens and over 50 young children suffering loss.”

Check out their story below.

To start the year off, we celebrate Kimberly L. who’s raised over $1,040 since joining iGive in 2007.  Kimberly is currently raising money for RefugeeOne, a Chicago-based resource for refugees fleeing war, terror, and persecution so they may build new lives of safety, dignity, and self-reliance.

We reached out to Kimberly and she shared these thoughts with us:

“Over the years I’ve supported several theatre companies in Chicago with my iGive shopping. I love seeing shows and working on shows and knowing that every little bit helps bring the magic of theatre to life.  Recently, however, some friends and I have begun taking up collections of household goods to donate to RefugeeOne and the last time we collected items, I decided to add the cause to iGive.  Now when I buy a teapot or dish towels to donate to RefugeeOne, the money I spent on those items also generates a donation via iGive! Win-win!!”

Thanks Kimberly, for being part of 20 years of giving with iGive.com.

German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County

German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County has been active with iGive for 10 years now, and what a story they have!  Over 600 iGive members support this worthy Cause, and they have earned over $7,000 in Donations.  Maria D., iGive member and Executive Director of the rescue, dropped us a note about their mission.

“German Shepherd Rescue of OC is dedicated to rescuing, rehoming, and rehabilitating German Shepherd dogs that have no where else to turn. We are operated by volunteers and we receive no government funding. Currently, we have more than 90 homeless shepherds depending on us for their care and comfort needs. Funds are desperately needed to pay for boarding costs, veterinary care, spaying and neutering, vaccines, microchips and basic supplies. In addition to funds, we always need donations of pet food, dog toys, quality treats, bleach and cleaning supplies. Dogs come to us from desperate situations, such as death of an owner, abandonment by loved ones, severe illness or injury that owners are not prepared to manage, as well as from public shelters throughout So California. Each year, we successfully rehome more than 400 German Shepherds in permanent, loving homes.”

If you live in the area, check out upcoming events to see how you can make a difference in the lives of these dogs, too!

Featuring Guiding Eyes for the Blind

Guiding Eyes for the Blind is dedicated to enriching the lives of blind and visually impaired men and women by providing them with the freedom to travel safely, thereby assuring greater independence, dignity and new horizons of opportunity.

Recently, iGive member, Deborah F., reached out to tell us a little more about her personal experience:

“Before my dog I would bump my way along and felt helpless and lost. With my dog, we fly down the sidewalk and he simply goes around danger. I am never alone and can once again leave my home and get out and explore! Thank you GEB!”

Guiding Eyes for the Blind gifts highly trained dogs to the blind – at NO COST to the student.  Through iGive supporters’ online shopping, over $800 has been raised for this good cause!
